At Adaptive Atelier, we're creating inclusive solutions for disabled people all over the world

We're building the infrastructure the internet never had.

Adaptive Atelier exists because most of the internet still doesn't work for disabled people — not because businesses don't care, but because nobody's built the technology to make inclusion the default instead of an afterthought. We're closing that gap with three connected products: AI that finds and fixes accessibility issues, human validation from disabled experts who catch what automation can't, and a marketplace that pays disabled professionals properly for the expertise they bring.

Consultation sits alongside the technology — strategy, training, and adoption support for the organizations putting it to work — but the technology comes first. It always has.

Where it started

Our founder, Toyosi Badejo-Okusanya, was diagnosed with hearing loss at age four. Growing up and building a career as a deaf woman across Nigeria and the UK meant navigating systems that were never designed with her in mind — and noticing, over and over, exactly where they broke down. That's not a backstory we tell for color. It's the reason Adaptive Atelier exists, and it's still how we build: with disabled people, not just for them.

What we believe

Disabled expertise has been asked for informally, and paid for rarely, for far too long. Businesses have long turned to disabled people for feedback — usability sessions, focus groups, "just tell us what's broken" — and just as long treated that expertise as something owed for free. We think that's backwards. People with disabilities face significantly higher rates of unemployment and underemployment globally, not because the expertise isn't there, but because nobody built the infrastructure to pay for it properly. AdaptiveAlly exists to fix exactly that.

What we build

AdaptiveWiz — An accessibility remediation API that integrates into digital products to continuously identify and adapt accessibility barriers in real time, without requiring a redesign.

AdaptiveTest — AI-powered accessibility testing that identifies WCAG barriers and shows organisations what needs to be fixed.

AdaptiveAlly — A marketplace connecting businesses with vetted disabled professionals who validate digital experiences using real-world lived expertise and assistive technology — and are paid for that expertise.

Together, they help businesses meet real legal and regulatory obligations, open genuine employment access for disabled professionals, and build accessibility into how they operate — not as a checklist, but as infrastructure.

FOUNDER & CEO

Split between Lagos and London, Toyosi brings bold beauty, digital inclusion, and global strategy into everything she does. As a leading accessibility consultant and marketing strategist, she’s worked with global brands like Estée Lauder, Phonak, MAC Cosmetics UK, and The Body Shop — helping them build digital experiences that are as inclusive as they are innovative. Whether she’s consulting on a Paralympic Games campaign ad for Channel 4, advising on accessible content for Freeview TV, or shaping visual merchandising for beauty brands, Toyosi’s work is rooted in the belief that disabled people deserve to feel seen, heard, and included. She currently sits on the Advisory Board of Sign Health and has been featured in outlets like This Day Style, Marie Claire Nigeria and i-D Italy for her advocacy in disability, beauty, and digital equity. In her series Sound Through My Lens, Toyosi shares her journey of embracing her deaf identity and challenges societal perceptions of disability. She emphasizes emotional healing and self-acceptance, stating: “Everything that was once a source of pain became a source of purpose for me.“ Her storytelling aims to inspire inclusion and highlight the experiences of disabled individuals across various industries.
